Mogadishu, Somalia (Onkod Radio) Somalia’s top leadership attended a forum on countering extremism held in Mogadishu, local media reported.
Organized by the TUBSAN Center, The forum brought together representatives from the international community and organizations engaged in counter-extremism.

Somalia’s deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Saleh Ahmed Jama, chaired the forum which focused on enhancing efforts to combat extremist ideologies and increasing public awareness, particularly among young people, to prevent recruitment by terrorist groups.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the government’s progress in security and counter-terrorism, while emphasizing the need to expand awareness initiatives.
“The government is committed to ensuring security and building a generation free from extremist ideologies,” he stated.
Extremist ideologies have been common in Somalia and spreading fast unnoticed, however, the government’s current policies in countering these ideologies are on fast-track.
Analysts believe that the government’s campaign in the fight against the extremist ideologies is short term approach, but requires practical approach with proper channels of communications.
