JOWHAR, Somalia — The Commander of AUSSOM Sector 5, Brig. Gen. Michel Ndenzako, on Friday conducted an inspection of strategic installations at Jowhar Airfield to assess security preparedness and reinforce force protection measures, AUSSOM said in statement posted on facebook
During the visit, Brig. Gen. Ndenzako toured key facilities at the Sector Headquarters and directed the rehabilitation of protective trenches along the airfield runway to strengthen perimeter security and ensure the safe operation of the airfield.
He also ordered additional security measures aimed at improving surveillance, enhancing rapid response capabilities, and safeguarding critical infrastructure against potential threats.
Addressing troops stationed at the airfield, Brig. Gen. Ndenzako called for heightened vigilance and sustained operational readiness to effectively deter and respond to threats posed by Al-Shabaab and other armed groups.
The inspection forms part of AUSSOM Sector 5’s ongoing efforts to strengthen force protection, secure critical infrastructure, and maintain a safe operating environment for personnel and mission activities in support of peace and stability in Somalia.
